Brent with king terakihi caught off Ranfurly Banks

Anna with hapuka caught on Ranfurly Banks (East Cape). Look at the size of this fish against a 5'8" person!
Sick and tired of coming home from a fishing trip with no fish? The lodge is situate on a beach where the boat can be launched and snapper caught for dinner. For the more adventurous, Brent personally takes guided fishing trips on a local launch. Gisborne is fortunate to be close to the Ranfurly Banks (also known as Jurassic Park where the hapuka and king terakihi in the photos below were caught). Whether its big game fishing or a fish from the loghouse, seldom does Brent come home from either venture without dinner. His years of fishing have taught him many skills to pass on.
As well as fishing, there is diving off the Lodge beach for crayfish and paua. For those guests not wanting a boat ride or to get wet diving, we have surfcasting rods for hire.

Anna & Ryan with day's catch off beach, and grandaddy snapper caught!
Below are a few photos taken of fish caught off the Lodge beach. Generally, snapper, kingfish, cod and kahawai are caught. They are cooked fresh that very night by Anna or the guests. If kahawai are caught, Brent will show guests how to smoke them.
Brent has an eel farm on the property which guests can view. Smoked eel is on the menu - if requested by guests.
